Function Notes Defining, Domain & Range, Linear, Increasing/Decreasing Algebra

Everything students need to master function basics in Algebra 1 — from the definition and vertical line test to identifying increasing, decreasing, and constant intervals. Fully digital, self-grading, and no prep required. ★ WHAT'S COVERED (4 Topics) • Defining Functions — the "exactly one output" rule, function notation f(x), the vertical line test, identifying functions from ordered pairs and tables; visual canvas diagrams showing function vs. non-function • Domain & Range — inputs (domain) an

Liquid Functions: Exploring linear and nonlinear functions

This engaging and kinesthetic activity will help students visualize and understand the principles and concepts involved in functions. You can adapt the lesson to study linear or nonlinear functions or include both. The materials needed are few and inexpensive, and can be adapted to the needs of your students. The activity can be used as an introduction to functions so that students get hands-on experience, or it can be used as an application of skills students have already learned in a unit of s

This Calculus worksheet is intended for students after they have learned the 5.9 AP Calculus AB Topic: "Connecting a Function, Its First Derivative, and Its Second Derivative." When given the graph of f', often times my students struggle with identifying where the graph of f has a local minimum or maximum, where f is increasing/decreasing, or identifying where the graph of f is concave up/down, or has a point of inflection. Similarly, when given the graph of f'', they tend to struggle with ide

This handout is used to help the students convert Binary Code into Base 2 numbers. 0's mean off, 1's mean on. Instead of using Base 10, teach the students base 2, convert, and perform the functions. This is the final product after a study of Binary Code and Base 2. There are quite a few lessons online with Binary and Base 2, but I created this to go with what I found online.

2-Digit Addition with Regrouping Workmat & Recording Page

This 2-Digit Addition Work mat is a great tool when introducing regrouping to students. Students use base-10 blocks to model the addition problems. If there are enough ones to make a new ten then they will mark the box on the work mat and exchange 10 ones for a ten stick. This activity is a bridge between manipulatives and the standard algorithm. Two recording pages are included for small group and independent practice. This would make a wonderful math center and the work mat could be used wi

IB Math: Mastering the Math IA

This is a collection of activities that gives students opportunities to practice the skills needed for criteria A-D of the IB math internal assessment.   There is one activity for each month of the first year of the IB program.  Each activity is broken into tasks that can be done in one sitting or separately throughout the month, followed by discussion questions and a summary box for student consolidation. This document is split into two parts: i) A teacher book with notes for each activity.
