Kindergarten Oral Language Development Activities

I use these prompts and record keeping techniques to increase my bilingual 4 year old and 5 year old Kindergarten students Oral English Language. In Wisconsin, we measure student performance using WIDA's assessments therefore, my record keeping is based on their speaking rubrics. I try my best to talk as little as possible, so the students talk more. It can be messy and feel a bit out of control, but it's worth it. I've seen great results!

I developed this "guide" when I recognized my previous school shifted to mastery learning students were struggling with submitting evidence of their learning. This "guide" uses the lowest DOK questions from the original assignment for students to be able to meet the minimum amount of evidence that can be scored in the grade book. In my case I use a 10/10 scale, so a 6/10 a D (passing). This will help those students who struggle with keeping up with assignments or who struggle with attendance. C
