The K.I.M. Word Cluster Graphic Organizer is an excellent template to increase content area vocabulary for students. It expands understanding of key vocabulary terms and can be used with narrative and expository text. This strategy is very simple and requires a minimum of writing. This is a badge system to help students earn badges as rewards for meeting classroom standard goals. The kid includes badges to print in color and cut out, parent checklist of badges, and notes/certificates to let parents know what badges they are working on. The badges are scaffolded so that students can reach goals. This will increase parent contact and allow parents to know what skills to work on at home with their child. At the end of the year, students get to take home their badges.
