Cosmo's Minus Method (Poster / Handout)

Cosmo's Minus Method is an adaptation of Cramer's Rule I made for my Algebra 2 class. I wanted them to have this algorithm as an alternative to substitution or elimination to solve moderately difficult systems of 2 linear equations in standard form. I chose not to call it Cramer's Rule because a quick google search would reveal how to use Cramer's Rule with the available TI-84 Graphing Calculators. Also, the title of the algorithm "Cosmo's Minus Method" comes from the name of the crazy neighbor

I Heart Numbers
Students use the concept of a perfect square to compute the square root of a number that is a non-perfect square. They use this to develop the concept of an irrational number. They then reflect upon their process to develop an algorithm to more precisely estimate square roots.
