During this prezi students will be taught strategies to use to effectively multiply the factors of 3 and 6. These methods are drawing a picture, doubling the products of 3 to calculate the product of multiply with 6 and counting by five and adding on a sixth group. The students are able to correct their answers by using a multiplication chart that is part of the prezi.. At the end of the prezi the students are asked to reflected on the methods they used.

This prezi was created for my students using the Go Math Curricula. The students compare multiplying with 5 with telling time and counting nickles. Students also compare multiplying by 10 with counting groups of dimes. Skipping counting, using the multiplication chart and doubling the products of 5 to get multiplies of 10 are explained during the presentation. Students could watch the prezi as an engagement activity or a way to review and strengthen their existing skills.

Your students will become engaged by the animal theme and learn by grouping different animals groups into tens. The students will learn how to use the strategy of repeated subtraction to divide as well as using the number line and multiplication chart. They really enjoyed learning details about scorpions who have eight legs while incorporating strategies to make multiplication with the number eight simpler.
