Geometric Measurements to the Middle Song (lyrics only)

Math Tunes
This is a song about various geometric measures to the middle to the tune of "The Middle" by Zedd, Maren Morris, Grey. My students and I sing this during our triangles and quadrilaterals units in algebra class. I also use it as a call and response when students get stuck and don't know what to do. My students have said it helps them remember on quizzes and tests. Music makes memory! Here is the main chorus: A midpoint, is found when you measure to the middle Just average the endpoints of a segm

Polygon Chart

Simple, easy way for students to brainstorm what they already know about the names of polygons before teaching. I have students spend 2 minutes naming as many as they can and draw. Then, have them pair with a partner to fill in any their partner had that they didn't. I wander the room and give a prize to one or two people who had the most. I display an answer key and lead into discussions about circles being defined as polygons with infinite sides and convex vs. concave polygons. (They soon

Geometry Daily Vocabulary Quiz Template

In my Geometry classes, I have found that emphasizing vocabulary is important, so I begin each class with a 5-question vocabulary quiz. This often includes putting 5 definitions (or more often-pictures) on the board, and having students write down the vocabulary term that best describes each one. I also keep a word wall as a word bank for these quizzes. This template allows students to record their responses for a whole week on one paper. I recommend trading and grading every day, then colle

Drawing with Coordinates

In the Drawing with Coordinates activity, students will create their own designs by plotting coordinate pairs on paper. They trade their list of coordinate pairs with a partner, who attempts to recreate the original image to see how accurate their algorithm was. Students then enter the same list of ordered pairs into the Coordinate Drawer web app and explore how changing points and reflections affect their designs.
