Desmos Drawings Functions Project | Algebra 1 and 8th Grade Math | End of Year!
This is a wonderful multi-day project I have used for the past two years with my 8th grade math and honors Algebra 1 students! It is low-prep, takes around four 60-minute class periods, and is perfect for the end of the year after testing. Students select an image to trace in the free, online Desmos graphing calculator. Polar Functions: The Queen's Rose Garden
A fun way to practice graphing polar functions that will also give you something pretty to decorate your classroom with! This is also designed to get students reasoning and explaining mathematically. Zach's Eraser: Linear Functions and Line of Fit
This is an effective and thought-provoking way to helps students apply functions to real situations. The resulting function shows a negative slope. Stock Market Graphs
Students use their skills to track and interpret trends with at least 3 current companies. They collect data on stock price for two weeks, graph the information, then make predictions about what they think will happen based on the trends. Great for use in finance and investment classes, math, or science to collect and analyze data. I used this in my middle school RTI classes for project-based learning. Directions: Students use the sorting mat to sort shapes.
