What is a DNA Computer? STEM activity (Home School and Student Edition)

Created by
Bioproductions
This interactive and animated STEM activity engages students in merging basic coding with the code of life -DNA. The activity starts with creating a simple graphic and converting this into binary code. The student is then guided to convert this into DNA code. A simulated DNA synthesizer is used to produce a DNA strand for the containing the code for the graphic image. The activity is an in the form of an animated and interactive PowerPoint Presentation. Despite the seemingly advanced content

Coding Your Name

Binary Coding Activity Students will type or write their names. They will type or write their name in binary code. If you look up the binary code, you will see that each letter of the alphabet has a specific code in 0's and 1's to represent it. Students use that code to write their names. Then they create their version of binary code. Then they will create a different type of code for their name. Ex. Instead of 0 they could use a :).

This short presentation shows how Binary code can be used to solve the Towers of Hanoi Math challenge in the least amount of moves. this resource is easy to use, just put it into slideshow and take your time clicking and watching as all the magic happens. This resource complements the Towers of Hanoi Project for Series and Sequences in my store and contains a presentation to show the moves required with binary for up to 5 different discs. For this remember that when the colored number changes
