After concluding the overlapping portion of the shaded region, students find the product and determine whether the product is greater than 1, less than 1, or equal to 1. Then, students verify the product using the standard algorithm (on the front page). On the back page, students identify differences and similarities between the multiplication of whole numbers and decimals.
