Long Division Mnemonic & Practice Problems
So many students struggle with the steps of long division. This is a great mnemonic (memory) device to help them remember the steps. I made it into a small poster I hang in my classroom as well as little cards I give students to keep at their desks which they reference while working. I have found it helpful to have it on the first few homework sheets I send home as practice. I put the practice problems on "graph paper" so the students line up their numbers.
