FREE Math Pre-Assessment of Basic Skills: Grades 6-8
This is a FREE Math Pre-Assessment that I use in my Grade 7 classroom. It looks at basic skills - multiplication, division, rounding, place value, area, fractions, percents, decimals etc. It's surprising how many students even in Grade 8 or 9 who struggle with long division, for example. This short pre-assessment gives you a starting place for working with your students in September.

Kinematics - Free fall problems
This is a short set of kinematics problems that I use after I do the Free Fall Activity and walk the students through a few example problems. It uses the concept of accelerated motion (by gravity) to find distance, final velocity, and time in the context people acting in stories (which is more fun than "a block is dropped off a cliff").
