My fourth graders thrive in math when given appropriate daily practice. This free preview shows our "Math Sense" which I project on to my white board each day. Students copy the 6 problems into their math notebooks and work away! It is a great spiral review as we fold in new concepts and increase rigor.

Time: digital and written form flashcards (hour and half-hour times)
I created these flashcards to support assessment during a pass-the-parcel style game using a clock cushion.
The cards were placed face down in the middle of the circle, the children passed the clock around...when it was their turn they chose a card from the middle and were required to demonstrate the given time in analogue form on the clock.
The children I worked with LOVED this approach!

Number of the Day/ number think board
This activity can be done on a whole group, small group or individual basis.
It involves identifying a number, marking it on a number line, stating if the number is even or odd, writing the number in words, doubling the number, drawing what the number looks like, adding and subtracting to make the number and showing the number on a tens frame.
It is an excellent assessment tool.
