Order of Operations Match Game: Pair word problems & expressions w/ parentheses
These order of operations match game cards have students pairing a simple expression using parentheses, with a simple context (third grade level). Why? This lets learners focus all of their mental energy on the reasoning. WHY are these numbers in parentheses instead of those? Do the parentheses always matter? Will the answer be the same without them? Introduce the order of operations rules purposefully in a fun way! I use these as a match game first. My students love when they don't have to us
