Mathematics Stories: Given tough x-intercepts, finding the VERTEX of a PARABOLA
For years and years of teaching advanced mathematics, I always just found the vertex of a parabola by completing the square. In challenging top end students, I'd give them "raunchy" x-intercepts and have them find the vertex. I taught the algorithm in this product, and figured that every textbook would do the same.
