This is a modified version of the AP version of cookie mining directed at the middle school to high school students in a physical or Earth science class. Percent composition is used to calculate how much of the ore is viable as well as calculations to see if the ore is profitable. Reclamation is also part and parcel to this simplified version of higher level mining labs. I use the rubric for grading only, it is not given to students as it includes the answer key.
