VEX Go STEM Sprint – Robotics Obstacle Course Engineering | Grade 5

Created by
STEM With Mr.B
In the Combat Robotics League VEX Go Field Training sprint, students become robotics field engineers as they program a VEX Go robot to navigate a three-obstacle course — writing sequential movement commands, testing against the course, and redesigning their code until the robot completes all three obstacles within the time limit. Set inside the Combat Robotics League narrative, this 1-week sprint introduces Grade 5 students to block-based robot programming with immediate physical feedback. What S

Circuits

In this game, the lines on the gym will make a circuit that the students will play in. Their job is to move the electrons (balls) as efficiently as possible with as few drops as possible. Any drop will be calculated into resistance, and at the end of the round, the students will see how much power their team had in their circuit. This game will reinforce essential concepts and mathematics in circuits, and they will work on their throwing and catching skills.

Minecraft Kinetic and Potential Energy Lesson Plan

This lesson plan explains how to use Minecraft with a class to teach and assess kinetic and potential energy. Students learn about kinetic and potential energy (worksheet included) and then use Minecraft to create their own roller coaster. They then draw blueprints for their completed roller coaster, drawing the kinetic and potential energy for the coaster at each hill and dip.
