Collaborative activities, guided discovery, and meaningful mathematical discussions are at the heart of my classroom. Anytime I can get students working together, sharing ideas, justifying their thinking, and learning from one another, I do.
I am a firm believer in a student-centered classroom and have found it to be not only motivating, but essential for both the mathematical and social development of students. My goal is to create learning experiences that encourage curiosity, productive struggle, and deep understanding rather than simple memorization.
One of my greatest strengths as an educator is designing resources that help students truly "get it." Years in the classroom have shown me the common misconceptions that often prevent students from understanding new concepts, so I intentionally create materials that address those misconceptions before they become obstacles. I also carefully scaffold learning by building complexity gradually, allowing students to develop confidence with foundational ideas before moving on to more challenging applications.
While conceptual understanding is my primary focus, I also love bringing creativity into the classroom. Whether through interactive notes, foldables, visual models, or engaging activities, I strive to make learning both meaningful and memorable.
There is no greater joy than helping students make connections, build confidence, and discover that they are capable of doing mathematics at a high level.
