About the store

Experience

No matter how the acronyms change, EB, ELL, or EL, second language learners continue to need teachers who can differentiate their lessons to support their varying levels of proficiency. With over 20 years of teaching experience mainly with EBs, I hope to create resources that will help teachers easily incorporate scaffolds into their lessons.

Teaching style

I believe in using a variety of strategies. I don't believe there is one method that works for all students. A teacher's greatest challenge is to find out what works best for each individual student. I do incorporate technology as much as possible, group work, and I believe in setting high expectations for all students.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I've been honored as Teacher of the Year at three different schools — a reflection of my dedication to students and the support of amazing colleagues.

My own education history

I graduated from Hanks High School and then proceeded to attend the University of Notre Dame. I received my BA with a concentration in science and then found my true calling, teaching. I then took the necessary classes to get my teacher certificate at the University of Texas at El Paso. I continue to grow professionally through trainings offered by my current district and opportunities I find online.

Additional biographical information

Happily married for 21 years, we have a 25 year old daughter who is currently working on completing a Master's degree in counseling and art therapy. I have lived in El Paso, TX most of my life aside from going away to college and living a couple of years in Arizona. I love browsing book stores, libraries, and paper stores for notebooks and pens.
