CeeCee Math is a student who struggles with the new math standards, especially the eight practices which require discussion and explanation of our thinking. She is writing to your students from math class, asking for help in solving some real-life story problems posed by her math teacher. CeeCee asks your students to work with their math group and to write a return letter to her math group explaining their solution and their thinking. The problems posed come from actual situations in my classroom. The letters have information that is needed for the solution and some unnecessary information as well. CeeCee introduces us to the members of her math group, and a little humor is added for fun! Of course the letters really come to you, and revealing your identity as CeeCee or yourself is up to you!

The rubric , checklist, and completed letters from CeeCee make great additions to your Interactive Math Notebook! CeeCee Math work can be used as a center activity or as a whole-class math project. Recommended for advanced third graders through sixth graders.
