by Emily Kissner. When I was teaching text structure, I realized that my students did not have a firm grasp on what the word "structure" means. I took the opportunity to develop their understanding of the word. This presentation develops the meaning of "structure" with examples, related words with the root -struct, and a very brief explanation of how structure relates to text. Once students knew what the word structure means, they were able to better understand text structure. (Please note: This slideshow does not explain individual text structures. For an overview of the different text structures, please see my Text Structure powerpoint.)
