Are you using Interactive Math Notebooks this year? Use this place value lesson as a part of your math notebook. It includes a place value reference sheet on understanding place value, and using it to compare numbers, as well as a reflection with 5 choices of ways to reflect and a rubric for self-evaluation.

This meets Common Core Math Standards: 2.NBT.A.1 2.NBT.A.3 2.NBT.A.4 4.NBT.A.2 and 5.NBT.A.1. It also meets the UK National Curriculum Maths Programme standards for Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5.

Understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones; e.g., 706 equals 7 hundreds, 0 tens, and 6 ones. Understand the following as special cases:
Read and write numbers to 1000 using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.
Compare two three-digit numbers based on meanings of the hundreds, tens, and ones digits, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
