Description

This is a complete package of paper designed to accompany a writing for readers (conventions) writing unit for young writers. Each paper has a checklist included right on it that students can use as a rubric to self monitor their writing. Included you will find checklist paper with lines, without lines, a booklet cover, booklet paper, a large group checklist, and a peer checklist. This unit teaches students to use punctuation, spaces between words, lowercase letters (except in specific situations), and word wall words spelled correctly. There is also a guide to using checklists in the classroom, and a pacing guide for the unit.

I have created several other writing units that use checklists. Check them out here:

Personal Narrative Writing Workshop Paper
Small Moments Writing Workshop Paper
"How To" Books Writing Workshop Paper
Opinion Writing Unit - Writing Workshop Paper

I struggle every year to get my students to use spacing, capitalization and punctuation. I look forward to trying out these checklists next year. Love the pacing guide too. Thanks so much for this great resource!!!

Hi I love the resource, but when I try to save it to my computer so I can print at work, it crashed my computer. If I try to export as a PDF it asks for a password. Is there something I should know about this? Thanks

Hi! I am not sure what may be going on. The document is already a PDF, so you should not need to export it as a PDF (it is saved with a password for editing, which is why you are receiving that message.) Perhaps try opening it with a different browser? There is absolutely no reason that I know of that should result in a computer crash. Best of luck!
