During a Native American unit, students learn about the life and traditions of the Tlingit (pronounced "clingit") Native Americans that lived in the Northwestern part of North America (Alaska). Extension activity: Using di-cut animals and paper towel rolls, students can make their own Totem Poles, like the Tlingit Indians. Each animal on the Totem Pole represents a family trait. Experience

I have been in education since 2004. I spent the majority of my teaching years in a 3rd grade classroom, but also have experience in all grades K-5. My favorite place to teach is outdoors with hands-on, interactive lessons that give the cognitive lift to students.
