I was on the Math Best Practices Team for Minnesota, the Reading Committee, MEEP, the Sci/Math Team, an IGE Team Leader, the computer specialist for our elementary school for 28 years, as well as many other committees and teams throughout my years as a teacher. This is an eight page booklet to give students practice writing limericks. It explains what a limerick is and has five limericks for the students to finish.

Couplets for Thanksgiving
This is a three page minilesson on couplets and rhyming. It explains what a couplet is, gives an example, and then the students write 7 original couplets based on colorful and fun Thanksgiving pictures.

Haiku for Springtime
This is a 7 page booklet for teaching the form of poetry known as Haiku. There is a cover page with an example, a page that explains Haiku with two examples, and 5 pages for students to write their own Haiku. Three pages show pictures for students to write about and two pages require students to draw a picture and then write their Haiku. I used springtime pictures but this unit could be used any time of the year.

I taught for 38 years in Elementary Education. I retired in 2007.
Teaching style
I always followed the curriculum for our school but wrote my own units whenever possible. I was a hands on teacher and wanted my students to be thinkers and problem solvers.
