Description
Start you school year off on the right foot with these individual positive incentive charts! These charts help keep students accountable for their behavior while encouraging natural mathematical discourse as they color the points on a hundreds chart.
How to use:
Select a point system (I use a well known app with monster avatars and point system). At the end of the day, students choose any color crayon to record their points for the day. The next day, they choose a different color crayon from the previous day to record that days points.
A variety of options are included in this resource. Choose the frequency of rewards and type of rewards that best fit the needs for your students. The way I do the dollar versions is that students trade in those play dollars for a treasure chest prize on the 5th dollar (as they would in a class store). If you prefer, there are versions with stars in place of play money that could equate to a sticker or a small candy. The prize could be anything of your choice (a homework pass, extra free time, etc).
What is included:
A variety of options include:
- 1 play dollar for every 10 points and one treasure chest prize for every 50 points.
- 1 star (sticker or small prize) for every 10 points and one treasure chest prize for every 50 points.
- 1 star (sticker or small prize) for every 10 points and one smiley face prize (larger prize of your choosing) for every 50 points.
- 1 play dollar for every 10 points and one treasure chest prize for every 20 points.
- 1 star for every 10 points and one treasure chest prize for every 20 points.
- 1 star for every 10 points and one smiley face prize for every 20 points.
- 1 treasure chest prize for every 10 points.
- 1 smiley face prize for every 10 points.
Each version is available with different monsters and each are available in black and white or color totalling 96 options.
I created this product for my first grade students and have been using this system for several years. I love that my students are able to set goals for themselves and take accountability for their own behavior. As an added bonus I walk around the last 5 minutes of the day and hear mathematical conversations!
