Description
This engaging activity provides students the opportunity to practice solving problems involving length and supports the following second grade math standards:
TEKS 2.9E: determine a solution to a problem involving length, including estimating lengths
CCSS: 2.MD.B.5: use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve word problems involving lengths that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as drawings of rulers) and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem

Here is how to play:
Students read the riddle on the answer document and then move around solving questions on the 12 task cards posted around the room. As students solve each question, they write the letter answer on their answer document above the question number. When all questions have been answered correctly, students will have solved the riddle. This activity will get your students out of their seats, laughing and learning as they solve math problems and riddles!
Benefits of printable task cards:
Task cards can be used in math stations, in a guided math or tutorial lesson, as exit tickets, as an early finisher activity, as a small table group activity or even a whole group game of four corners or Scoot!
You can also use them as a homework or independent practice page. Simply choose 4 pages, then under “page sizing and handling”, choose "multiple”. For pages per sheet, select “2”; for orientation select “landscape”, then just print front to back.
