Description
Review coin values and practice adding coins with this 2 week, hands-on math unit for 2nd grade.
This unit includes full lesson plans, student task cards, games, and recording sheets. It is designed to be used as week long, centers-based exploration units.
Week 1:
Monday: Build schema and review coin values
Tuesday-Thursday: Students will visit a series of centers, practicing adding coins with games and task cards. Directions and suggestions are included for each station. (Recording sheets are included with each center.)
Friday: Students will show what they know by adding coins to make $1.
Centers/activities can also be spread out throughout the week if needed.
Week 2:
Monday: Connect adding groups of like coins to skip counting.
Tuesday-Thursday: Students will visit a series of centers, practicing solving word problems involving money and adding coins. Directions and suggestions are included for each station. (Recording sheets are included with each center.)
Friday: Students will show what they know by ordering groups of coins from the smallest value to the largest.
