Description

Review 2D and 3D shapes, practice arrays, rows, and columns, and work with fractions in this 3 week long math unit.

This unit includes full lesson plans, student task cards, games, recording sheets, and craftivities. It is designed to be used as week long, centers-based exploration units.

Week 1:

Monday: Build schema and review shapes and vocabulary.

Tuesday-Thursday: Students will visit a series of centers, learning about 2D and 3D shapes with games and explorations. Directions and suggestions are included for each station. (Recording sheets are included with each center.)

Friday: Students will show what they know with a shape sort.

Centers/activities can also be spread out throughout the week if needed.

Week 2:

Monday: Learn about rows, columns, and arrays.

Tuesday-Thursday: Students will visit a series of centers, applying the skills from Monday with games and explorations. Directions and suggestions are included for each station. (Recording sheets are included with each center.)

Friday: Students will show what they know by building their own arrays with cheese crackers.

Week 3:

Monday: Practice identifying and describing fractions.

Tuesday-Thursday: Students will visit a series of centers, practicing naming and comparing fractions. Directions and suggestions are included for each station. (Recording sheets are included with each center.)

Friday: Students will show what they know by determining the fraction of different colors in their M&M or Skittles bags.
