Description
This product consists of:
- Three puzzles with problems and answers, that increase in level of difficulty. The higher level problems also have more “fake” answers.
- Solutions for each puzzle.
- Labels for the back, in case you want to print these to use again.
How to run the activity/prep:
- I printed each level on a different color of card stock, then cut them out with an exacto knife (this actually takes a LOT less time that scissors!)
- You could just print them on paper and have students cut them out.
- I had all students start at the Blue Level, then “leveled-up” when they completed it. They found that very motivating.
- You could also give students the level you know they will be most successful at.
I love these puzzles as an activity because they allow students to work collaboratively, students are motivated, and students know if they have the correct answers or not – so they can move on without asking the teacher, “Is this right?”
Blue Level:
Add (including decimals), Subtract (no borrowing), Multiply (single digit x double-digit)
Red Level:
Add (including decimals), Subtract (with borrowing), Multiply (double x double-digit)
Black level:
Add, Subtract (with borrowing and needing to write zeroes in the subtrahend), Multiplying (triple-double-digit), some basic order of operations (no grouping symbols)
