Description
Math word problem solving intervention and progress monitoring on 2-step Word problems all in one place! No more searching the internet for problems here or there. Appropriate for older students working on lower grade levels with no clipart and discrete grade level markings. Includes 30 organized pages of 2-step word problem solving intervention and 32 pages of two step word problem solving progress monitoring assessments.
This is a whole two step word problem intervention program. Each page is separated out by operation pairs. Focus and zoom on each skill then have students try independently. For example, page 1 is all multiply then subtract problems, page 2 is all multiply then add. Page 3 is a mixture of the two.
Guided intervention of math problem solving skills, great for explicit teaching of solving word problems with 2-steps using the four operations. Each page includes 4 word problems, the first two problems are meant for teacher led intervention. The last two word problems then closely match the first two. Sudents solve these independently. With the scaffolded similar structure to the problems students become confident in their skills.
Two different methods to solve word problems are included, 14 pages to practice solving using pictures and 9 pages to practice solving with equations. On the last 5 pages students practice independently and can choose which method is most helpful to them. Provide your students with skills other than just “find the key words”
The independent practice pages can also be used for progress monitoring and data collection of progress towards math problem solving goals. Use for students for response to intervention (RTI), individualized education programs (IEP), or Evaluation Team Reports (ETR).
Color-Coded Answer Key: helps you quickly find operation pairs and collect data
Progress Monitoring Assessments: Each two step word problem assessment has 6 questions with a variety of operation pairs. For example: multiply then divide, add then multiply, divide then subtract etc.
Challenge pages: probes number 31 and 32 are challenge word problems, they involve 3 steps to solve.
Progress Graph: guide your students through goal writing and progress measuring with the bar graph
Geared towards older students working on lower grade skills. Age appropriate problem examples and no clipart. The grade level is not clearly marked on the page, so students don’t feel self-conscious about their individual levels. Special care was also taken in writing these word problems to use a diverse set of names. Uncluttered with easy-to-read fonts.
Here's what you'll get in the two step word problems intervention program:
- 18 teacher led intervention pages ( 9 solve using pictures, 6 solve using equations 3 choice)
- 12 pages of independent practice
- 32 progress monitoring assessments
- 2 pages of challenge problems (3 steps)
- Answer keys color-coded
- Teaching notes
Your students will quickly begin to feel confident in their problem solving skills. You will be providing them two methods to solve word problems. (other than just “find the key word) With the repetitive practice students will begin to see their progress and will master these skills.
