"Perfect math review before winter break. Those last few days before we are out are challenging to keep students focused on learning and this activity perfectly held their attention while practicing skills we learned first semester. "

Description

Try this fun snowman winter themed math game with your 3rd grade students today! This game can be played virtually with distance learning, or in the classroom. Use it for centers, rotations, bell work, exit tickets, homework, test review, and more! Play as a whole class, in small groups, or even individually.

Students will practice finding the unknown factor, as well as solving multi-step word problems. As students click on the snowmen, they will either find a pile of snowballs or a finished snowman. A finished snowman means they can continue on to the next question. A pile of snowballs means they must try again. This game is self-grading, because as students play, they will know right away if they got the answer correct or not.

An answer key and instructions to play are provided. This game is created in Google Slides. There are 25 questions included.

The game is very user-friendly, and your students will be able to pick it up quickly. Students MUST play this in “Present” mode.

Cute activity! Students enjoyed building snowmen while they solved multiplication and division problems. Just be sure to explain to them that they must click on the correct snowman twice to advance to the next slide.

Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
Solve two-step word problems using the four operations. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.
