4.NBT.5 Area Model Multiplication

This one page worksheet is a way to introduce the concept.

It starts off with a completed model.... the "I do"

The next problem is partially complete to show students how to go through it together. "we do"

The last problem you can do together or they try ("you do") and then show how to use partitioned rectangles instead!

I had my students color code this in three steps and glue into their math notebook! They loved it! What a great step in to area and perimeter!
