This 4th lesson, Add and Subtract Mixed Numbers, teaches students how to draw models and write equations to add mixed numbers with and without regrouping. ✎ Mimi-lesson: Students use a work mat to draw models and write equations for adding and subtracting mixed numbers.

✎ 5 questions to check for understanding (whole group)

✎ 8 questions to use for partner practice

✎ An exit ticket to assess understanding

✎ Small group teacher activity (leveled activity mat)

This lesson has a clear beginning, middle, and end with interactive features to engage your students. You can customize it by adding video clips (BrainPOP, Flocab, etc.) and workbook pages from your textbook series. It can also be left as sub plans, making your job so much easier!
