Block Letters
- Print on cardstock, laminate (or placed in plastic sleeves), and display.
- Puzzle shapes are colored using dry-erase or non-permanent markers.
- After re-assessing the skill, wipe off previous color and replace it with the new mastery level.
- This should be done WITH students.- it's a visual way for them to see collective growth over time
- Multiple classes? Vertically display multiple sets (name classes). Students enjoy comparing, and it encourages healthy, collective competition.
- This system of class-wide data tracking does NOT use student names.
- The goal is to cultivate a sense of purpose and empowerment without shame.

- TEKS List - Display on the wall for easy reference.
- βImportant Mistakesβ - Laminate (or place in plastic sleeve) and display. When reviewing the class-wide data, discuss the low-performing skills and common misconceptions. Involve students in filling in and planning the re-teach.
- βTEKS Over Timeβ - Optional display to keep track of performance and growth over the school year. This document may also be used for private individual student trackers.
- This tool can build culture around a shared goal of improving on a certain skill. If students know that the whole class struggled with a skill, and then there is an action plan in place to work on it, they will share the feeling of success when it is re-tested and they get to change the color.
- I normally allow the students to color in the pieces. They really think it's special :)
