Description

This is a fourth grade math assessment to find out where your new student is on their progression through the fourth grade standards. It shows you where their strengths and weaknesses are. I would bet that many of us receive a new student every year, sometimes more than one (I got 6 this past year!). This assessment is designed so that regardless of when you get that new student, you can use it to figure out what they know about 4th grade math. You can also use it as a cumulative assessment to find out what skills your students need review on before those state tests or as a pretest in 5th grade to see where student's weaknesses are.

I bought this resource to assess the readiness of a new student who just arrived in the US. This resource is described as being fit for newcomers but it is not at all accessible to students who do not yet speak English. It is also not aligned to TEKS as the description states. Additionally, many of the questions require written responses that would entail the student having to read and understand the question in English, something that is not possible for a newcomer to do. Overall this resource was not at all useful for me and I think the title and description are highly misleading and inaccurate.

Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
Recognize angles as geometric shapes that are formed wherever two rays share a common endpoint, and understand concepts of angle measurement:
