Looking for a fun AND educational way to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Then, you’ll love this resource filled with five highly engaging and super educational creative writing lessons. Each lesson begins with a mini-lesson about a critical English Language Arts concept including - figurative language, transition words, elements of poetry, and parts of speech. Then, the lesson kicks up the fun-factor as students write in response to five creative writing tasks. With this resource students will be writing Wacky Libs, Alliterative Poetry, Interrupted Stories, Anti-Love Letters, and Rebus Valentines. Each lesson is highly motivating and is sure to have your students begging for more opportunities to write. I LOVE teaching these lessons because I’ve found that instilling a love of writing is a perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

The writing activities are perfect to teach in daily succession or spread out through the month of February or the year. This resource is print-and-teach ready.

My students enjoyed the Anti-Love letters. They really showed their creative side by writing the letters from favorite book characters. It was a great way to review figurative language in a fun way!
