Are you using 5th Grade Big Ideas Math? Here are some great quizzes and a test for you. I have written two quizzes and a test for Chapter 9 – 2019 Common Core Edition. There are lots of questions completely aligned to most summative tests. This is a no prep product.

The questions are carefully crafted, and the pages are formatted for easy correcting. You will get great data and information about which of your kids need a little more help in learning about multiplying fractions. In addition, this is great test prep. Answer keys are included.

The file is a Word Document and you are free to EDIT and make necessary changes to teach your precious children. You could also make multiple versions for yourself if you wish. Also included is a PDF that will open well on most machines that do not have Microsoft Word.

These are also excellent as worksheets for formative assessment and end of the year review. I used the 2019 Common Core Edition of Big Ideas Math to make these, but they seem to match other versions well. Again they can be edited to meet your exact needs.

Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication to multiply a fraction or whole number by a fraction.

Interpret the product (𝘢/𝘣) × 𝘲 as a parts of a partition of 𝘲 into 𝘣 equal parts; equivalently, as the result of a sequence of operations 𝘢 × 𝘲 ÷ 𝘣. For example, use a visual fraction model to show (2/3) × 4 = 8/3, and create a story context for this equation. Do the same with (2/3) × (4/5) = 8/15. (In general, (𝘢/𝘣) × (𝘤/𝘥) = 𝘢𝘤/𝘣𝘥.)

Find the area of a rectangle with fractional side lengths by tiling it with unit squares of the appropriate unit fraction side lengths, and show that the area is the same as would be found by multiplying the side lengths. Multiply fractional side lengths to find areas of rectangles, and represent fraction products as rectangular areas.
