Description

This is ONE of SEVEN owl-themed interactive notebooks that I have designed. If you would like an idea about what my unit notebooks consist of, please download the FREE Unit 1 notebook.

Common core unit five (GEOMETRY & THE COORDINATE PLANE) is covered in this notebook. Skills include: labeling coordinate plane, plotting points on coordinate grid, identifying coordinates of plotted points, following and graphing patterns/sequences, and graphing based on real-world scenarios.

Here is what is included in this notebook:
-Notebook cover
-Student table of contents
-Unit cover page
-Listed Common Core standards covered in the unit
-18 vocabulary cards
-5 lessons (left/right notebook pages)
-3 to 5 scaffolded practice problems per strategy
-3 open response questions

This is an excellent tool to use in your classroom, especially if you aren't thrilled with how your textbook covers material! Students have a reference to anchor to all year long, and it also makes a great study-guide for end of the year tests. The step-by-step explanations can also be incredibly useful for parents.

While different units vary in length due to the amount of content, they each offer the same high-quality instructional material. If you like this and feel that you can use it as a resource in your classroom, please come back to check out the other six units! OR, you can purchase the 7-unit bundle for a savings of $3 here:

Generate two numerical patterns using two given rules. Identify apparent relationships between corresponding terms. Form ordered pairs consisting of corresponding terms from the two patterns, and graph the ordered pairs on a coordinate plane. For example, given the rule “Add 3” and the starting number 0, and given the rule “Add 6” and the starting number 0, generate terms in the resulting sequences, and observe that the terms in one sequence are twice the corresponding terms in the other sequence. Explain informally why this is so.
Use a pair of perpendicular number lines, called axes, to define a coordinate system, with the intersection of the lines (the origin) arranged to coincide with the 0 on each line and a given point in the plane located by using an ordered pair of numbers, called its coordinates. Understand that the first number indicates how far to travel from the origin in the direction of one axis, and the second number indicates how far to travel in the direction of the second axis, with the convention that the names of the two axes and the coordinates correspond (e.g., 𝘹-axis and 𝘹-coordinate, 𝘺-axis and 𝘺-coordinate).
Represent real world and mathematical problems by graphing points in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane, and interpret coordinate values of points in the context of the situation.
