This 20-slide presentation is a basic explanation of the Pythagorean concept. It uses the "area" argument approach and allows students to use self-created manipulatives to establish understanding of the Theorem. At the end, it shows the algorithm for the Theorem. It defines essential vocabulary (hypotenuse, right triangle, etc.), gives examples, has a guided practice question, and an independent practice question.

It is Common Core Aligned to the 8th grade math standard for Geometry: Pythagorean Theorem.

This is NOT a unit; it does not have assessments, homework, or group activities. It is a direct instruction lesson.

This is in PPT Show (.ppsx PPT 2010) format.
