S.T.E.M. activities may seem daunting when teaching young children. This is a STEM activity that I created for my students to do in November around Thanksgiving whenever we are reading fun books with turkeys in them. I like to include literature, reading, and writing into my STEM activity so that I can incorporate it into my reading block if needed. There is so much that has to be taught, and so little time!

I have included an audio version of me singing the song.....although you'd probably prefer to sing it yourself to your students!

I created a simple song for this S.T.E.M. activity that is asking if the children are able to make a turkey out of 2-dimensional shapes. After singing the song, students will have the opportunity to work in teams to make a turkey out of circles, rectangles, and triangles. You will receive a copy of my voice singing a cappella. I don't have the greatest voice....so please be kind! I just wanted to let you hear the song so that you could sing it with your own students....you could also just read it as a poem if you prefer.

Please download my free preview as it contains the unit in its entirety (minus the black-out lines).

Great STEM activity! The kids loved working on these and were really creative in their use of shapes. I loved the problem solving and cooperation that my students shared with each other during this process.
