Description
AP Chemistry: Unit 5, Topics 5.1 – 5.11, the complete fifth unit of the AP Chemistry Year – Kinetics. This unit follows the new 2024 AP Course and Exam Description, CED.
As you know, it is a real whirlwind to get everything “in” by AP exam time, and in such a way that your students have mastered the topics. I have followed the new 2024 AP CEDs in order when designing the lessons. Each learning objective and essential knowledge objective are addressed within the lesson. Curating what to teach, and what not to teach is not an easy task. By keeping on target with the CEDs, you should be able to address necessary topics with lots of practice at just the right pace that will insure mastery.
This unit includes a 158-slide animated and engaging PowerPoint, and 32 pages of Cornell Style student notes that follow the PowerPoint presentation. You and your students are going to love these lessons that are interactive, focusing and engaging students in the lesson. Each lesson includes step-by-step instruction with examples and practice. AP style multiple choice and free response questions are included in the lessons for you to work through with your students. Some topic lessons are short, and some are quite involved and will take a couple of days to work through.
Each topic lesson has a folder with the resources for that lesson. Also included is a 158-slide PowerPoint with all of the lessons combined. Slide links are on the first page to assist in finding your place within the unit.
Student notes and teacher notes are also offered by individual topic lessons, or as a combined file. The 32-page student notes are set to allow you to add or delete pages. You could add any unit pages that you would like to add to create a unit booklet, or just print the pdf for a unit student notes booklet. The student notes are editable. You can edit any page of the notes and replace the page with your edited page in the combined pdf. I have included in the main unit folder an “IMPORTANT INFORMATION – PLEASE READ” pdf with all editing instructions.
The 9-page teacher notes are also individual by lesson, or in a combined pdf file. You can print the teacher notes for the unit, and use them to make notes to yourself for future use. I like to keep them in a binder divided by unit. These comprehensive notes are perfect for the first year AP Chemistry teacher.
