This purchase is a 5-day unit plan for the seventh unit in the CED for AP Environmental Science (APES): Unit 9: Global Change. Provided with your purchase is a unit packet for students, along with an answer key, a ready-to-use teacher slideshow, and a unit overview/planning guide. Embedded inside the teacher slideshow are further resources, including a "Paint by Numbers" Jamboard activity. Great for distance learning! This unit is designed to be used for 100% online synchronous instruction, a hybrid model, or in person.
The unit breakdown is as follows:
Part 1: Stratospheric Ozone Depletion
Part 2: Greenhouse Gases and Greenhouse Effect
Part 3: Effects of Climate Change
Part 4: Climate Change's Effects on the Ocean
Part 5: Human Impacts on Biodiversity
This unit plan includes activities and skills such as data analysis, a virtual simulation, a group research and creative project, reading, viewing guides, graphic organizers, a virtual data scavenger hunt, guided notes, and a Jamboard for a Paint By Numbers activity. All 5 parts of the unit are ready to teach; and lessons can be easily adapted for asynchronous assignments. For each of the 5 sections listed above, the student unit packet comes with a word bank, Do Now, objective, and distinct daily activities. Many of the activities are student-led, emphasizing critical thinking, prediction and evaluation, and collaboration and discussion. The teacher slides are ready to use, either live during a Zoom or in-person meeting or to be posted for students to access asynchronously. Both the student-facing unit packet and slideshow are hosted by Google (Google Docs and Google Slides).
