Oh the nightmare of keeping track of who was absent what day and is missing what homework! Did they get the information they need to make up their work? How do you know that they have this information?
Put the responsibility back into the student's hands with this handy tracking sheet. I have a 3-ring binder at the back of my room and fill out one page a day to let student's know what they missed. I have students assigned each week called "The A Team" (A stands for ABSENT) that help students as they return to school read through what they missed, get the correct handouts and notes, etc. Students are responsible themselves for signing the book to say they have everything they need.

Just what I needed to help remind me to place materials in a folder for the absent students. This sheet will help me. Thank you so much.
