Description
With this set of five place value games, your students will have fun practicing mentally adding and subtracting ten and multiples of ten. These four in a row games are great activities for first grade math centers or for review at the beginning of second grade!
What does this math center game collection include?
* Two games for adding and subtracting 10 with one-digit and two- digit numbers.
* A game for adding two numbers with sums within 12 and adding 20 to the sum
* A game for adding two numbers with sums within 12 and adding 30 to the sum
* The fifth game is a challenge activity - adding tens to hundreds.
Your students love four-in-a-row games! Because most of your class has probably already played games of this type, you'll spend less time introducing your center activities or explaining directions again and again. All of the games can also be used by one student as an independent activity, a great alternative to a worksheet!
The games use dice and spinners (spinner included). All of the games are suitable for use in small groups or in math centers. All of the games come in both color and b/w.
How can you use these add and subtract tens activities in your classroom?
☛ Have partners play a game for practice and review after a math lesson.
☛ Fill your math tubs and math centers with these easy prep place value games.
☛ The games are quick practice for math intervention and RtI groups, and can lead to discussions with your students that will direct your next steps in instruction.
☛ Send the b/w versions home for extra practice. Playing a game with your family is so much more fun than a worksheet, and gives your students a chance to show off their math skills!
☛ Because they address standards across grade levels, these games will make differentiation easy for you! For your advanced first graders, try the challenge game. For second graders in need of review at the beginning of the school year or at any time, take a step back to the first grade game.
☛ Keep a basket of these games ready for your fast finishers to use. Playing them frequently will elevate adding and subtracting multiples of ten to a mental math skill!
CCCS 1.NBT.5: Given a two-digit number, mentally find 10 more or 10 less than the number, without having to count, explain the reasoning used.
CCCS 2.NBT.8: Mentally add 10 or 100 to a given number 100–900, and mentally subtract 10 or 100 from a given number 100–900.
