Description

Yes, it IS all right here: decimal place value, comparing and ordering, addition, subtraction, multiplication, exponents, division, order of operations, converting from fractions to decimals, and decimal word problems are all included in this unit. Each of these sections comes complete with thought-provoking warm-up questions to pique student interest, stimulating guided notes that serve as an easy method for teachers to provide notes and guided practice, math “poetry” to increase students’ level of engagement and further cement concepts, and one or more worksheets/games/activities (all with accompanying detailed keys). If you are looking for an easy-to-teach, comprehensive unit that takes students from decimal basics to sophisticated word problems, this 100-page complete unit is the product for you!

NOTE: This product is now available for purchase in TWO different formats:

  • A format that targets distribution of all activities to the students ONE SHEET AT A TIME (THIS PRODUCT - the ordering of the sheets is warm-up sheet 1, warm-up sheet 1 key, note sheet 1, note sheet key 1, worksheet 1, worksheet 1 key, etc. - convenient for single sheet distribution).

  • A format that allows for printing and distribution of PACKETS to the students. All warm-ups, notes, and worksheets are included in the order that they are used for easy double-sided printing of a 50-page packet, with keys included at the end of the document. If you would like to purchase this complete Decimals Unit in packet format, please purchase Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying Decimals Unit with Word Problems - PACKET FORM instead of purchasing this product.

Specifically, this product consists of seven separate sections. Each section is briefly described below:

Decimal Place Value: Consists of a warm-up activity, guided notes, a practice riddle card to introduce the subsequent game, and the Decimal Place Value Riddle Card Challenge game (also sold as a separate Decimal Place Value Riddle Card Challenge product), all with associated keys.

Addition and Subtraction of Decimals: Consists of a warm-up activity, guided notes (including math “poetry”), and a two-page worksheet (all with associated keys). Worksheet includes word problems. The adding and subtracting decimals portion of this product is also now sold separately as Adding and Subtracting Decimals Review.

Ordering Decimals: Consists of a warm-up activity, guided notes (including math “poetry”), and a two-page worksheet (all with associated keys). Worksheet includes a solve-this-riddle puzzle (also sold as part of a the separate Decimal Place Value Riddle Card Challenge product).

Multiplying Decimals (Including Exponents): Consists of two warm-up activities, two guided notes sheets (including math “poetry”), and two two-page worksheets (all with associated keys). The first warm-up/guided notes/worksheet set focuses on decimal multiplication basics while the second group introduces exponent and order-of-operation problems. Word problems are included in both worksheets. The multiplying decimals portion of this product is also now sold separately as Multiplying Decimals: It's All Right Here!

Dividing Decimals: Consists of three warm-up activities, three guided notes sheets (including math “poetry”), and three two-page worksheets (all with associated keys). The first warm-up/guided notes/worksheet set focuses on decimal division basics. The second set focuses on terminating and repeating quotients, converting fractions to decimals using division, and order of operations problems. The final set reviews the concept of rounding and then focuses on dividing and rounding the quotient to a specific decimal place. Word problems are included in all three worksheets. The dividing decimals portion of this product is also now sold separately as Dividing Decimals: It's All Right Here!

Decimal Word Problems: Consists of one word problem worksheet (“Doughnuts and Peaches”) and associated key. The word problems are real-world based and include all operations and concepts learned in previous parts of the unit.

Decimal Review Sheet and Unit Test: Contains a four-page review sheet and four-page unit test (with associated keys). Both comprehensively cover topics learned in the unit and are also broken down by section so that teachers may elect to exclude sections easily if they were not taught as part of the decimal unit.

This is the ideal comprehensive decimals unit for late elementary or early middle school. Feel free to review the preview file for details on all parts of this product.

Good luck in your use of Decimal Unit – It’s All Right Here!
