Description
Want your students to beg for more math time? Introduce them to these math puzzles! Here’s a set of 24 cards that will build skills in two digit addition and subtraction with and without regrouping.
How do math riddle task cards work?
On each card, your students will be given a grid of four numbers. They'll use math skills and critical thinking to eliminate three of the numbers. The number that's left is Puppy's Missing Bone, the solution to the riddle!
What does this resource include?
♦ 24 math riddle task cards with color graphics
♦ The same task cards in ink-saving black and white
♦ Student recording page and answer key
♦ A themed 120 chart for support and easy differentiation
♦ A card game using addition and subtraction to compare numbers is also included for additional practice, for independent use in a math center.
Here are some options for using these task cards:
♦ Use in a math center or math rotation for individual or partner work
♦ Add the riddles and card game to your early finishers collection
♦ Use the riddle card for whole class review with your document camera
♦ Use as a skills review rotation, like Scoot, individually or with partners, with
students moving to stations around the classroom to solve the riddles
♦ Use for morning “bell ringers”
♦ Start a small group lesson by solving a riddle card together. It's an instant number talk!
♦ Paraprofessionals and parent helpers love to use these cards, since they can use as few or as many as time allows, still giving students a sense of completion.
Here's what teachers are saying about these math riddle cards!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Jeanne said, "I teach in a multi grade mild cognitive special education classroom. This is a perfect activity to revisit skills my students have worked on while I give instruction to another grade."
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Alice said, "I have had a really challenging time trying to find resources that are advanced enough for my four year old granddaughter's academic math level BUT with not a lot of reading/writing or needing good fine motor control. This "guess the number" activity using clues is perfect for her. Thank you for this great resource!"
