Description

Students practice adding and subtracting mixed numbers by completing a math maze!

They draw arrows to show the path that they took to get from the start of the maze to the exit.

This download contains three different mazes for teachers to use to differentiate their instruction.

Level 1 maze questions were designed for students who are struggling to pick up this concept. Every question contains mixed numbers whose fraction contains a common denominator. In addition, students will only work with positive numbers.

Level 2 maze questions were designed for the average student. Questions at this level contain mixed numbers that have fractions whose denominators are different.

Level 3 maze questions were designed for stronger students as an enrichment activity. All mixed numbers will have fractions that are different. In addition, the numbers that students will work are larger than what they were working with in previous levels. Finally, it is also possible that some mixed numbers with will be negative.

Be sure to download the preview to see how the questions at each level differ.

It’s a fun way for kids to reinforce their adding and subtracting of fractions. I copied it to a slide so kids could do their arrows electronically and super easy to mark!

These mazes are excellent! I have already used the first two, I love that they appropriately increase in difficulty...challenging, yet doable! Well done!!!
