• explains what an open number line is
• shows how to break apart one of the numbers and add or subtract "friendly" pieces, using the number line to keep track
• demonstrates using a number line to add with and without regrouping
• demonstrates using a number line to subtract with and without regrouping
• provides 4 practice problems (just click to reveal possible solutions)
• includes an "I can" statement to frame the lesson objectives
