Description
These 24 addition task cards are the perfect resource for your second-grade students to practice adding within 20.
Task cards are EASY for you as the teacher because all you have to do is print and go. There are four cards per page so it makes printing and laminating quick and painless.
Task cards are FUN for your students because they can get up around the classroom and MOVE. It gives them independence and boots their confidence.
Why should I use task cards in my classroom?
✅ Targets a specific standard for practice or assessment
✅ Engages learners when used as a class scoot, write the room, or center
✅ Multiple implementation options- use during whole group, small group, extra practice or remediation, give to a teacher assistant or parent volunteer
✅ Time-saving for the busy teacher (print, laminate, cut, and that’s it!)
How can I use task cards in my classroom?
✏️ Task Card Scoot Place the task cards on student desks. Students can start at their desk and scoot around to the other desks. One option is teacher-directed (you say “scoot” or “next”) or the second option is student self-paced (students work at their own pace).
✏️ Write the Room You can place the task cards around the room and students have to get up and move to find each card.
✏️ Whole Group Practice You can hold up one card and students answer. I like to put mine under my document camera so all students can see. Students can use the recording sheet or a whiteboard to answer.
✏️ Small Group Practice These cards are easy to use for small group instruction and practice for you math centers or math interventions.
✏️ Time Filler Use these task cards if you find yourself with a few minutes. Play Around the World, Knock Out, or use while standing in line.
