Description

Albedo is the amount of the incident light or sunlight that is reflected by a surface, typically referring to a surface of Earth or other celestial object. It is a principle of heat transfer, Earth science, and astronomy.

In this lab, students experiment with different albedo surfaces to measure ice melt. Student sheet comes with:

-background information

-space to write hypothesis materials

-procedure

-data tables

-analysis questions

Teacher sheet includes:

-Answer key

-Teacher tips & tricks with numerous modification suggestions

Works great for Thermodynamics and pairs well with Thermal Energy Vocabulary, 22 Heat Transfer Questions and Answers, Insulation Lab Analysis, Thermal Mass Analysis

Can be added to Climate Change Bundle for an enhanced climate unit too!

Teaching reflection and refraction? Pair this lab with Build a Telescope Lab: Reflection and Refraction Fun!

Great idea. Smaller ice cubes would reduce time. I used brown, blue, green & white colours. I placed them in page protectors to keep them dry. Also, could use petri dishes for the ice.
